At Tom McHugh Construction, we believe in keeping quality in mind by partnering with the absolute best contractors in the Fox Valley. It all starts with having good people who take pride in their work—and we definitely have them.

Based in Appleton, Wisconsin.  We have been building homes since 2008, and service a 45 mile radius. We specialize in transforming local land into thriving residential communities, offering our signature Building Made Easy approach with upfront pricing at our Design Center—whether you are buying a turnkey home in one of our neighborhoods or building a custom design on your own lot.

From the Ground Up: The Tom McHugh History

While we have grown into a full team of dedicated in-house employees and loyal subcontractors, everything we do is still rooted in the old-school work ethic and core values that Tom McHugh grew up with.

• Learning the Trades: Tom grew up swinging a hammer the traditional way. He started learning the trades at 14 years old, working summers with his dad (who worked second shift at a meat plant and built homes on first shift) and a family friend named Bill. Back then, builders did it all themselves—concrete, framing, roofing, siding, trim, paint, floor, and pretty much everything else.

• The Concrete Years (McHugh's Decorative Concrete): After studying at Fox Valley Technical College and UW-Stout, Tom spent a decade working alongside his dad in the family’s decorative concrete business that his dad started when Tom went to college. Tom mastered custom flatwork, stamped patios, and outdoor living spaces.

• The Evolution of Tom McHugh Construction: Because concrete is seasonal in Wisconsin, Tom returned to his roots and began building houses during the winter of 2008. In 2015, he transitioned to home construction full-time. By 2018, Tom launched his first community project, discovering how volume purchasing and consistent contractor relationships could drive down costs drastically for the end homebuyer.

A True Family Business

Today, Tom McHugh Construction is a true family affair. Tom’s brother Mitch runs our home production, and his sister Caitlin runs our company operations. Backed by an incredible staff, they ensure your build is seamless and easy.

Meanwhile, Tom stays focused on the big picture: finding new land for local developments, collaborating with municipalities to design beautiful new neighborhoods, and ensuring every home we build meets the highest standards.
